The Carolina Hurricanes have taken a 3-2 series lead in the Stanley Cup Final after defeating the Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 in Game 5. The Hurricanes got off to a strong start, with Jordan Staal tipping a shot past Carter Hart for his sixth goal in five games this series. Andrei Svechnikov sent a slapshot past Hart to capitalize on the second of back-to-back Hurricanes power plays, giving Carolina its first lead of the night. Sebastian Aho followed soon after with his first goal of the series off a gorgeous long pass from Sean Walker. In the third period, Svechnikov got his second of the night off a pass from Nikolaj Ehlers, but Vegas finally found a response with Pavel Dorofeyev's second goal to get the deficit back within two. Game 6 is in Las Vegas on Sunday, where a win would give Carolina its first Stanley Cup in 20 years.
