Carolina Hurricanes to Decide Between Goalies for Game 5 vs. Vegas

Carolina Hurricanes Head Coach Rod Brind'Amour has a decision to make between goalies Brandon Bussi and Frederik Andersen for Game 5 against the Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup Final. Bussi made 18 saves in his first start in the Stanley Cup Final, becoming just the third goaltender in league history to both make his first start and win. Andersen, on the other hand, should be rested and ready to go after not dressing for the latest contest. Brind'Amour justified the decision to keep Andersen out of the game by saying that the staff felt he needed a break. In front of whoever is in net, Jordan Staal is expected to be between Nikolaj Ehlers and Seth Jarvis. Sebastian Aho centered Andrei Svechnikov and Jordan Martinook to start the day. The Hurricanes have a projected lineup for Game 5, with Ehlers-Staal-Jarvis, Hall-Stankoven-Blake, Svechnikov-Aho-Martinook, and Carrier-Jankowski-Robinson on the forward lines. Slavin-Chatfield, Miller-Walker, and Gostisbehere-Nikishin are the projected defense pairs. The starting goaltender is still to be determined. The Hurricanes have no injuries to report and the following players are scratched: Nicolas Deslauriers, Jesperi Kotkaniemi, and Mike Reilly. The power play units are Aho-Ehlers-Staal-Jarvis-Gostisbehere and Blake-Hall-Jankowski-Stankoven-Nikishin. Jordan Staal has been taking the faceoffs to start most power plays, and if he wins it, he'll stay on the ice. When the puck comes out of the zone, he jumps off, and Nikolaj Ehlers jumps on with the first unit. If he wins it for the second unit, Mark Jankowski jumps on when Staal goes off.
