The Carolina Hurricanes made a trade offer to the Winnipeg Jets for superstar goalie Connor Hellebuyck, per Frank Seravalli of Hockey 24/7.
The offer was believed to include a first-round pick along with pending RFA defenseman Alexander Nikishin.
The Hurricanes have an extra first-round draft pick as a potential trade piece following the Mikko Rantanen trade to the Dallas Stars.
Hellebuyck is a four-time All-Star and three-time Vezina Trophy winner, leading the NHL with 47 wins, a 2.00 GAA and eight shutouts in 2024-25.
He also had a .925 save percentage and won the Hart Memorial Trophy that year.
The Carolina Hurricanes are currently 1st in the Eastern Conference with a 53-22 record, on a W1 streak, after winning 0-3 @ Vegas Golden Knights on 2026-06-15.
Hellebuyck's status is something to monitor as the offseason continues, with the Hurricanes looking to keep their Stanley Cup window wide open.
The Panthers, who were back-to-back Stanley Cup champs in 2024 and 2025, are also interested in Hellebuyck.
TSN's Darren Dreger reported that several teams have expressed interest in Hellebuyck, but the offers aren't good enough yet.
Hellebuyck is under contract with the Winnipeg Jets until 2031, so the offers need to improve for a trade to happen.
